So, what has happened since my last check-in? December is a month of gluttony. Always have been, always will be. And for us it's the same. Only difference between this December and previous years was, we did our overeating on low carb and protein products. No koeksisters, no sweet stuff and baked goodies. Wait, I lie... We did have sweet stuff. And baked goodies! But this year, we baked with nut flour (I made a LOT of flour over December!), and our sweet goodies used xylitol. So, how did our Month of Gluttony affect our weight?
I am happy to report it was not as bad as it could have been. Since my last report on December 8 till now, I lost 600 grams. The Wife lost 4.2 kg (she held herself in more than I did! LOL). Also, the wife have been a bit sick over the last week, and held a lot of water back. I gave her some of my water tablets yesterday (I know, I should not really do that!), and the effect was amazing, as the table below will show! Eldest picked up 300 grams, while Youngest lost 1.5 kg.
It's been six weeks since my last update, so I decided to build a little table to show our weekly progress. The lines will be per person, and the columns per week:
Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6 | |
Sam | -1.9 kg | +0.8 kg | +2.4 kg | -1.6 kg | +1.1 kg | -1.4 kg |
The Wife | +0.3 kg | -1.2 kg | +2.2 kg | -1.8 kg | +1.8 kg | -4.9 kg |
Eldest | +0.1 kg | +0.6 kg | +0.9 kg | -0.6 kg | -0.8 kg | +0.1 kg |
Youngest | -0.7 kg | +0.1 kg | +0.8 kg | -0.7 kg | No Change | -1 kg |
You will notice a general gain on Week 3 (Christmas week), as well as a general gain over Week 5. So, what happened in Week 5? It was both our anniversary (January 5th), and my birthday (January 9th). So yeah, I pigged out a little at Mike's Kitchen. That lamb shank may have been expensive, but it tasted incredible!
One of the gifts I got for Christmas was an ice cream maker. It only makes 500 ml of ice cream at a time, but that is perfect for us as a family. Gives us the odd ice cream, without over-doing it. That is, unless I make ice cream every day or day (as I did up to last week!). Now, we decided, we will limit ourselves to Sundays. Or not. Depending on the heat, and my ability to convince The Wife! ;-)
I've tried quite a bit of different flavors so far. My favorite was the Macadamia Nut Butter one. Took half a liter of fresh cream, some xylitol syrup for sweetness, and a tablespoon of macadamia nut butter. Damn, it tasted nice!
So, what was my New Year's resolutions? One, to do a weekly update of my blog. Broke that one already, by not updating for the first few weeks! Let's see how it goes from here. Second one is to loose another 50 kg this year. I aim to finish the year on 120 kg. Seeing that I've lost almost 40 kg in 7 months, 50 kg in a year should not be that tough, even if I do hit a few plateau's.
So, till next week (if I keep my resolution!).
