Day 32

Yesterday our power went out just after 12:00 noon, and only came back on at about 8:20 this morning. Usually, in the past, we would take the easy way out and order a take-out. Last night, however, was different.

We have a small generator (I need it for my oxygen machine when the power goes out), so the Wife plugged the food processor in, and turned cauliflower into cauli-rice. Then she whipped out the gas bottle, and made us nice chicken curry with cut-up gem squash (in place of potatoes). She added some cream to up the fat content (and the taste!), then fried the cauli-rice (in a lot of butter) when the chicken was done. A quick re-heat of the chicken, and we had a very nice, creamy dinner. Doubt the take-aways would have tasted as good!

With my oxygen machine already on the generator, it was not strong enough to power the TV and Explora, so what to do to pass the hours till bed-time? We whipped out a pack of cards, and taught the Girls how to play rummy. The Youngest kicked our butts, by the way. Beginners Luck is what I call it! ;-)

So, what have I learned last night? Not even a power failure can get us of this great lifestyle! Happy banting, people!
