Day 101

First day of my second hundred days of banting! And I don't regret any single day of the last 100. OK, maybe I regret one day. That was the day we went to the doctor and he gave us cortisone. Yes, except for that day, I don't regret any of the other days!

What a weekend we had! Friday afternoon two of the friends for Eldest's video-night slash game-night arrived. Late Saturday morning the one's dad picked the kids up, and took them to another party. One where they did get to lan, as they decided to just watch movies the previous night. All good and nice. So me, The Wife, and Youngest decided to just have a chicken salad for dinner. Was pretty nice. Eldest returned late on Saturday night, all happy with her outing. Youngest have long since retired to bed, and me and The Wife sat up. Damn, we were tired! Luckily we got to watch the new Spiderman while we waited, so it was not all bad. :-)

Sunday morning we weighed ourselves again. And both me and The Wife once again were back at our losing ways. I dropped 2.6 kg, and The Wife lost 1.7 kg. We both lost more than what we picked up last week. I'm just happy the cortisone seems to have finished doing its damage to our weight. We were looking forward to a nice, relaxing day.

And it was a nice, relaxing day. Until about 15:30, that is. Then the power went out. It got later, and still no power. In the past we would have just made sandwiches if this happened. Boring. Or we would have ordered take-away, if we had enough cash on hand. But that was the old us. This is the new us.

Opened the fridge, looking for what was available. We ended up making another salad. This time, however, we chucked in whatever we had. We started of with lettuce. Added some cherry tomatoes (cut in half, of course!), as well as some sliced cucumber. Crumbled in some feta, and then added some biltong. Yeah, I know, weird combination. But it was nice! For a dressing we mixed some avo oil with some of our home-made sweet chilli sauce. I think the sauce was what made the salad so nice! Power came back on somewhere between 7 and 8...

On a side note, it seems the fast food restaurants in the US are starting to feel the pinch of people moving over to LCHF. An Italian pizza chain, Olive Garden, offered "never-ending pasta passes" for $100. It was not really never-ending, but for $100 you could eat as much pizza and pasta as you like for a 7 week period. Worried, maybe?
