Earlier this week I discovered my next-door neighbor sells fresh vegetables he buys at the market for a living. He mainly supplies Takeaways & Restaurants with fresh fruits, vegetables, and pre-cut chips. Now he supplies me with vegetables as well!
He buys from the Johannesburg Market, and get good prices because he buys in bulk. Now I can buy fresh from him three days a week, and have it delivered free of charge as a bonus. We had our first delivery yesterday, at great prices, and good quality. Pity the cauliflower did not look nice, so he decided not to buy any. He will be visiting the market again tomorrow, and hopefully then will get quality cauliflower.
So, for our first order, what did we get? A lot of spinach, broccoli, four heads of cabbage, a box of tomatoes, and a box of very nice avocado's. I think I was happiest about the avo's! On order for tomorrow is (obviously) cauliflower, baby marrows, and mushrooms. If the cauliflower looks even just remotely as good as the broccoli did, I will be a very happy man indeed.
It's a pity I never asked the guy what he did for a living before. I could have saved a lot on vegetables over the last couple of months! He will also look at getting me prices from his friends for certain nuts (so we can make our almond flour for cheaper!), as well as meat prices. It's a win-win situation. I get fresh veggies delivered at home at excellent prices, while he gains another customer.
So, how did the weight loss go in the Hearn Household these last two weeks? I lost 1.6 kg in the first week, and then followed it up with a 1.7 kg for a total of 3.3 kg. I also broke through the 170 kg target. The wife did not do as good the first week, losing only 0.4 kg, but she came back with a bang, and chucked off an amazing 2.6 kg (yes, you read that right!) last week. Her totals for the fortnight was a round 3 kg.
Eldest lost 1.3 kg in the first week, but only managed 100 g in the second, for a respectable 1.4 kg over the two weeks. Youngest was the Top Loser in week 1 with 1.9 kg, but also fell back in week 2, losing only 0.4 kg. Her total for the two weeks was 2.3 kg.
So in the last two weeks I was the Biggest Loser, followed closely by The Wife, then Youngest, with Eldest bringing up the rear. Till next time!
