Getting more into this now. Had a better nights sleep last night, and that must have helped. Still feeling tired, but not as much as the last few days. My body must be adapting to this new lifestyle.
Lunch now seems to be a thing of the past. Ever since banting, I have not yet felt hungry enough for a meal in the afternoon. Yesterday I had five cherry tomatoes, a Granny Smith apple, and a small piece of biltong. Well, actually this time it was more fat than biltong! My butcher seemed to have gone a bit overboard when I told him I want the fatty cuts!
Dinner was the best yet. We had brown mushrooms, fried in butter, with fried bacon bits, creamy spinach with feta, and cheddar. With half an avocado on the side. Can't believe I once believed eating like this is wrong!
This morning we add an egg muffin (stuffed with fried button mushrooms and spring onions), another half avocado, fried bacon and full fat yoghurt. We bought the unflavored yoghurt, and my wife added xylitol for sweetness and vanilla essence for taste to hers and the girls', but I had mine plain. I actually enjoyed the taste! And this morning I decided to not have the bulletproof coffee. Instead, I had bulletproof cocoa. Unlike with the coffee, I did need some sweetness in cocoa, so I added a spoon and a half xylitol.
Yesterday I watched a YouTube video of Prof Jeff Volek. It taught me more about LCHF than anything else I have found so far. It is an hour long, but certainly worth the time. One of the most important things that he has implied, but not said straight out, is that the American Hart Association is right about one thing. Saturated fat is dangerous, should you take it while taking a lot of carbs. Your body then burn the carbs for energy, and store the fat.
Basically, our bodies are used to using carbs for energy. It does not like to use fat if there are carbs around. Instead, it converts extra carbs into more fat, then store it as well. By cutting out carbs, and loading on fat, you teach your body to burn fat for energy. Then, at a certain point, your body realizes you have all these energy reserves, and start to use them. This is why it is important to eat when hungry, not when it's mealtime, and only eat as much as you need. The body will burn its own reserves of fat for the rest of your energy. And once you reach the ideal weight for your body, your body will tell you to eat more to prevent starving. So don't be afraid that you will waste away!
If interested, go watch the video yourself. It is very informative. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC1vMBRFiwE#t=1558
