Knowing sushi takes time to get used to, unlike pork trotters which is great from the get go, they brought us only vegetables with that funny rice around and seaweed around some. Well, sushi is expensive, and what is right is right, so we had some. Our first carbs since Saturday.
This morning was the first time this week I felt really hungry. I mean, REALLY hungry. The wife had more of the sushi than me, and she had a headache this morning. My girls, who both had very little sushi, both were fine. Now if this experience did not teach us that carbs are bad for you, nothing will!
One of the members of Banting for Healthy Living on Facebook had the following post this morning:
"Maybe some simple but important advice (especially to the new banters):
- See banting as a lifestyle NOT a diet
- Know and follow the 10 principles of banting
- Know what are on the green/orange/red lists and eat accordingly (You don't need a daily eating plan!)
- You don't need all the fancy (and expensive) stuff
- Read labels when you buy food
- Be creative and have fun with it
- Remember banting can be simple; you don't need to eat fancy or make meals complicated.
- Keep your banting simple or you will lose interest
(The RMR is a great reference to understand banting!)
If you follow the above you will find that banting is simple and easy;
if you try and make it complicated it will just be like another
Weighless mission you're on and you will give up on it. Remember, it is
a lifestyle, not a diet ... although you will lose the centimetres too"
Very well said. Thanks Danie Malan!
